I'm a Big Bad Wolf

Do you ever write a post, think you click "Publish" and then wonder why no one has commented on your fabulous new blog about how adorable you looked on Halloween? Yep, us too.

Yesterday was a great day because I went to work with Mom...as part of her costume of course!

Every Little Red Riding Hood needs a Big Bad Wolf! Hope you had a great Halloween!

Go Chargers!

Sundays in our house are about watching football. Well, so are Thursday nights...and Monday nights...and the occasional Saturday...

No matter when we're watching though, we're always Charger fans. Always have been, always will be.

Where have we been?

See here's the thing about writing a dog blog...I have to get Mom's help to write it! I've had all these GREAT ideas but somebody has been too busy to be of any use. She seems to think that things like being in the busiest time of the year at work, studying for the LSAT and getting into a car accident are valid excuses for completely abandoning my writing career. For shame!

Well, a lot has happened since my Mom decided she liked a lot of things better than me so I won't try and shove them all down your throat at once. One thing at a time my friends...

First, if you follow us on Instagram you probably remember this adorable picture of me in my big, giant bed. If you don't follow us on Instagram...well then you should. Look us up @littlerockfish or just check out my pics by searching for #jacksblog.

Ok back to my story. This bed is To. Die. For. It's so perfectly soft without being too squishy, it has these great bolsters on the sides that I can cuddle up against, and it was only $40 at Costco. Everyone wins!

Considering I'm a 65-pound mutt and I still have thaaat much room to move around, you can tell it's a pretty big bed. Look, it's even big enough to share with your best friend!

What have you been up to since I've been gone? What is your new favorite thing?

My Favorites: Kool Tool!

I am a very friendly boy and I always love meeting new people! Just the other day I met Sher who was nice enough to show me a Kool Tool - I love it! All you have to do is get it wet, wring it out, snap it and it's set to go. The best part is that it doesn't drip on my fur and I don't end up getting wet (and smelling like wet dog). Too good to be true? I thought so too!

Luckily Sher let me (and Mom and Dad) try one out and I am happy to report it's as good as they say. Check me out:

I know what you're thinking...it's starting to get seriously hot in San Diego and you might want a Kool Tool for yourself or your furry friend. Well luckily for you I have a coupon code for Kool Tool to share! Everybody wins!

Zip on over to the Kool Tool website and put in the coupon code "jack" to get 25% off for up to three of your own! You can thank me later :)

My Favorites: Homemade Sweet Potato Snacks

You know what I love? Treats. Food. Any kind of snacky goodness. So when Mom and Grandma set out to make some "Sweet Potato Chews" based on something they saw on Pinterest, let's just say I was all in.

This is a sweet potato. Not the most attractive when it starts but it sure does taste good!
Be sure to peel it. Skin is yucky.
Cut into even slices so they all bake evenly. Mom did mine about 1/3" thick
Bake in the oven at 350 until they are crispy.
Wait patiently while they cool. And Grandma does the dishes.
Act uninterested when Mom waves it in your face. In truth, try to keep from drooling on the floor.

Eat the equivalent of a whole sweet potato in one night. Success.
Now Mom wanted me to tell you that the instructions she found for this told her to cook the sweet potato slices at 250 degrees for three hours!!! Um, what? Who runs their oven for three hours??? Anyways, we're thinking that the lower temperature and longer cooking time would make them more like chewies whereas these were crunchy yummy snacks. I prefer these ones, they are done in about 20 minutes. Thank goodness, the waiting is torture!!

Enjoy!

My Favorites: KONG

My mom's friend was asking the other day about how to stop their young dog from chewing. Since we have a bit of experience in this area I thought I'd share our advice!

I had a little bit of a chewing problem when I was younger. Just ask my Dad about the patio furniture or my Mom about her Kate Spade heels and you'll get quite the story. The problem is that as a puppy I didn't know any better. When we are young we need lots of attention, exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and healthy. When we are not getting these things we have to find a way to tell you we are missing something. We can't literally tell you with our words so we try to show you any way we can. Chewing is one way that certainly gets your attention!

One way to stop us from chewing on your things is to teach us how to enjoy chewing on our things. Give us fun toys, bring home new bones and reward us when we choose our own chewtoy over the handle of your handbag. It took my parents and I a while but we've found quite a few toys, bones and treats that distract me from chewing. Probably best of all is the KONG brand chew toys. Since I'm a big boy I need the Extra Large size KONG and I like it best when mom fills it will lots of treats that I have to work hard to get out.

I recommend mixing small treats, pieces of food and even rice in with peanut butter and then stuffing that thing as tight as possible. I know it doesn't sound good to you humans but I'm licking my lips just thinking about it. Give me a full KONG and I stay busy for a while. The rubbery material is thick enough that I can't actually chew it apart and the hunt to get out all of the filling wears me out mentally too!

Sound like it might help to break your chewing habit? You can get them at every pet store including Petco and Petsmart. Enjoy!
