Who is Jack?

Hello world! Thanks for stopping by Jack's blog...make yourself comfortable but please don't pee on the floor.

This blog is written mainly from the point of view of Jack's mom and dad since Jack can't quite figure out how to keep his paws on the home row of keys. So who is Jack you might ask? You sure are a clever one...

Giacomo "Jack" Simmons was born sometime around the beginning of November 2008 and eventually found his way into the South shelter of the San Diego Department of Animal Control on Christmas Eve. He was a whiny, skinny little ball of fur weighing in at 6 pounds and 7 ounces but his mom and dad were smitten right away. They felt lucky to have even found the little guy because after looking at other dogs and pups all day they were just about ready to leave and give up. Jack was a bright spot in the rainy day and they immediately put a "hold" on him in hopes he'd get to come home someday.

The next week felt like years for both Jack and his soon-to-be parents. Jack's mom was perhaps a bit too eager, calling every single day to be sure he was still there and often making the 30 minute drive for just a few minutes of play time. Finally, on New Year's Eve, mom and dad went to officially adopt little Jack! Unfortunately crazy schedules made it so that Jack couldn't come home for yet another week. Mom and dad waited patiently again until January 7 when Jack finally came home. He was just under 10 pounds by this point and was happy to have a forever home.

In the past couple of months since Jack came home he has been potty trained, visited the vet hospital, survived kennel cough and giardia, chewed through two harnesses, run away once and become good friends with the firemen at station 44. He's become a happy pup who loves to go for walks and isn't even the slightest bit shy. He enjoys dog beach, grandma and grandpa's backyard, and of course lots of treats. Jack only knows a few tricks but what he knows, he knows well. Most of all, Jack loves being with mom, dad, and all the other people in his life...he really is a family dog. :)

So there you go...now you know Jack!
