Coffee with a Canine

Just this week, Mom and I were lucky enough to be featured on Coffee with a Canine! If you haven't checked out this blog yet you should definitely cruise over there and give it a looksy. It was a perfect outlet for Mom to get to tell about how she adopted me, my goofy nicknames and share some adorable pictures of yours truly. Then again, which pictures of me are not adorable???

We loved our day at Cafe 1134, particularly the yummy snacks and very friendly crowd. We will definitely be back!

Coronado is certainly a place to dream about. Someday we will be lucky enough to call it home but for now, we'll just enjoy the coffee shops and walks on the beach!

Harley, The Throwaway Dog

Mom just entered us to win a copy of Harley, The Throwaway Dog through Life With Dogs. How could she not? This pup could be my twin!

What a good-looking dog! Now my silly ear is on the other side (on my left) but still, you gotta love and appreciate a rogue, satellite ear.

The description of the book says,
"Follow the real-life journey of Harley, The Throwaway Puppy, from shelter dog to agility champion.
Illustrated with original watercolor paintings by the author, Harley will appeal to dog lovers of every age."

Well whatdoyaknow, I was a shelter dog too! Here's to hoping we win :)

Book Review: Woman's Best Friend

Mom loves to read! Dad isn't as big of a fan but he does like shorter articles online, including lots of sports and political content! Even though I can't sit still long enough to read more than a few words you might remember my love of books from this post.

I love when mom reads because she usually reads out loud to me or at least lets me cuddle while she reads. This time she read Woman's Best Friend, edited by Megan McMorris. Just in time for the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day! This book is actually a collection of stories by women writers about their dogs. Some are very sad as they tell the stories of losing a dog or having to give one up when it turns vicious towards the author's young children. Others are funny like when the author lets the dog write the story from their perspective (sound familiar?).

It's a good little collection of short stories that can be read in one day if you have the time. Mom preferred to read just one story at a time, usually before bed to wind down from a long day. I'm not sure it was the greatest or most profound dog book ever but it was a lovely little collection of puppy parables. As one Amazon reviewer wrote, "The writers were very skilled at their craft, but I've certainly read much more meaningful, true dog stories." Nevertheless it is worth a read since it will give you a new (or renewed) appreciation for the furry friend in your life and who doesn't love that?

Books? Yeah sure, I could use a snack...

If you haven't already heard, dad started his classes at the community college and mom started her master's! There has been a whole lot of reading around here lately and let me tell ya, I'm not so sure what they expect me to do during all of that. Here's what I prefer to do with a book:

Because let's be honest...they all taste the same!

Now this guy's got the right idea: "It is all very well to be able to write books, but can you waggle your ears?" -James Matthew Barrie

It's July already?!

So much has been happening I can hardly keep track of it all! Luckily mom and Aunt Ashley have taken plenty of pictures so let's catch you up to date...

Last week I got to play with Maddie at the dog park and then we each enjoyed a nice bone back at my place. This is also the same day Maddie lost her first tooth...not by my doing of course!

On Sunday I also got to meet my Great-Uncle Richard for the first time. He was a lot of fun. He told mom to share her potatoes with me so he can't be all that bad!

This week, Monday, I had a buddy named Charlie over. Well, mom says that's probably not his name but that's what she and her friend Lisa called him. Charlie was a stray they found running around our condo complex. He was nice enough to put up with my bullying for a few hours until the nice animal control officers came to pick him up.

Now he's at the shelter, right where I started! I hope he finds his rightful owners or at least a nice set of new ones.

Today mom escaped the office a little early (with some help from dad) and I got to relax outside on the patio with them. There's nothing like a nice afternoon sitting on the table reading a good magazine to kick off the long holiday weekend.

I hear GGP Bob and GGM Norma are coming into town this weekend--I can't wait to see them! Plus Aunt Emmy and Uncle Matt will be back from summer school. We'll have lots of fun family time and I'll be sure to let you know all about it. Stay safe!
